Venous thrombosis

« Back to Glossary Index

Also known as phlebitis, a venous thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in a superficial or deep vein. Very often in the lower limbs, the clot will block the passage of blood but can also migrate to the pulmonary artery. Risk factors that can lead to this are known, such as smoking, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, etc.
