Maigne’s syndrome

« Back to Glossary Index

Maigne’s syndrome is a minor intervertebral disfunction at the thoracolumbar junction (transition zone between the dorsal and lumbar spine). The thoracolumbar junction is the point of origin for the nerves that supply the pelvic-perineal wall (ilio-inguinal, ilio-hypogastric and genito-femoral). A disfunction of the thoracolumbar junction may therefore be responsible for pain in the pelvic region and perineum.
