A hysterosonography, also known as vaginal ultrasound with contrast, is an ultrasound examination used to study the uterine cavity and permeability of the fallopian tubes. A contrast dye is injected during the examination to swell the inside of the uterus for better visibility. A hysterosonography will give the same results as a hysterosalpingography.
