Hyperstimulation is the term used for ovarian hyperstimulation (OH) in IVF. The ovaries are stimulated by IVF and this stimulation can lead to OH. This causes enlargement of the ovaries, pain, the production of ascites and the risk of thrombosis, which will require medical supervision. It can occur during stimulation, before or after the egg transfer.
