Endometrioma = endometriotic ovarian cyst

« Back to Glossary Index

Endometriosis of the ovary in the form of an endometriotic cyst. This cyst can affect both sides and measure from a few millimetres to several centimetres. The presence of these endometriotic cysts can lead to pain and/or infertility because of the adhesions between the fallopian tubes and ovaries, resulting in an increase in inflammatory factors that impair fertilisation, as well as a decrease in ovarian reserves.
